LG's Electronic Paper Display ePaper

LG's most awaited E-paper is going to release in very soon.The LG is the manufacturer of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display announced that started the production of E-paper in highly and it is the world's first Plastic electronic paper display (EPD) for eBooks.The first production of EPD from LG Display amd it will first be supplied to ODM companies in China, followed by completed products to be release in Europe Most probably in this month.The 6-inch XGA (1024x768), e-links, plastic EPD and it is fully flexible advanced in the design and features of the EPD. This new display gives a whole new experience to the eBook readers.


The new display will give a paper like reading experience to the users, with a plastic substrate that is slim as cell phone and protection for film and flexible design allows that bending at a range of 4.0 degrees from the center of the screen.By comparing with glass EPD of the same size and resolution, LG Display's plastic EPD is a super slim thickness of 0.7mm, and it is 1/3 similar than existing glass EPD and the weight of the EPD is 14gm only.The eBook screens are more prone to damage, if it dropped from a height due to the type of display used, but LG done repeated drop test on EPD from certain height 1.5m actual person standing height by doing these tests LG not even faced any problem on this.When EPD put through a break/scratch test involving hitting the display with a small urethane hammer, no scratches or breakage resulted. As EPD gets thinner, lighter, and more durable with the introduction of plastic EPD, eBooks will be able to offer certain unique benefits compared to the smart devices and tablets, it also have reduced eye fatigue and more efficient electricity consumption and it also lower prices.
